Weak Wrists Are A Rising Modern Phenomenon

wrist painMonica Jones, fitness trainer talks about a problem that is commonly seen to beset individuals from all walks of life in recent times – weakness in the wrist area.

She notes that even otherwise fit individuals are showing weakness in their wrists, probably because of the sort of activities that we engage in commonly that do not promote the increasing of bone density in that area.

Consider the sort of activities that we undertake during our typical day – using the computer sitting at the desk for hours on end, either for work related activity or for recreation.

Then there is the operation of our cell phones, iPhones and Blackberries and constant texting that adds to the problem. Our leisure activities of hoisting a cold beer up for a sip and changing channels of TV using a remote control are also not likely to mitigate the situation!

Whereas earlier we would typically do a lot of physical activity that helped promote the bone density of the wrists – think shoveling, hoeing, planting – today we do less and less of such activity and this alas includes children.

It is important to apply appropriate stress for increasing bone density – with a conservative and progressive approach. Such appropriate stress on the hand, wrist and forearm can help avoid problems.
