With technology developing at the speed of light, PCs become obsolete and are replaced by machines that are smaller, sleeker, more efficient, more able, quicker and better looking. So what do you do with the old PC as now you have a new one? Here are some tips on what to do with your old desktop:
- If the old machine has the storage ability, you can use it to back up your data.

- If you are the sort that likes to try out new applications but is often disappointed by how the app turns out, your old PC may help. Use it like a test machine for new or iffy apps that you’re not sure about before installing them on your main PC.
- If you want to try out a new operating system (think Ubuntu) or an open source one you can try it out on your old PC to see if it can work for all your requirements.
- Multi player computer games can be played if you have more than one machine in the house. You can use your old PC for multiplayer games.
- Want to see what’s inside a PC and how it works? Take apart your old machine and see what’s inside and take an online tutorial to see how each part works. This may help you understand later upgrades better as well.
- Give it to a relative (or even a child in the house), who may value it and learn the ropes on it before moving on to something better.
